Today Jake and I worked with leveled books. I printed off a copy of a story call "My Family" from the A to Z website. Together I helped him write his name on the cover and we went through the pictures giving every person a name. He seemed to enjoy coloring the book. After we named a person, I had him color that page. Afterwards we read a story together that had to do with Dinosaurs since Jake loves dinosaurs. He seemed to enjoy listening to the sound effects I made. We then drew pictures of dinosaurs and gave them names After this, it was time for him to go.

Today Jake and I read more books. At 4:30 Ms. Zook came and tested Jake on letter identification. This helped me learn what to do during his sessions. She showed me how to work with word families with him and using flashcards. She also told me that it was okay to give him breaks since he is so young so a hour may be to long for him.

Today Jake and I started off working with A, B, and C. I found a program on the internet called starfall.com which gave more practice with these words. We worked on this website for 20 minutes with different activities. Next I let him play a motorcycle game since thats all he really likes to play. We then walked to the basement of Degarmo and I let him pick a snack out of the vending machines. We walked back upstairs and I let him eat his chips while I read a story to him for the rest of the hour.

Today Jake and I started off with identifing the first few letters of the alphabet A-F using flashcards for about 5 minutes. Next we went to starfall.com on the Macbook and read a few stories that emphasis AN, AT, EN, ET. We played an educational game using those letters also. Then I let Jake play the motorcycle game again. The first words out of his mouth at every session is motorcycle game so I let him take a break and play it every session to make it a little more fun. I try to only let him play for about ten minutes and make sure that first we work on letter identification and word families first. Afterwards, I brought some chips for him to snack on while I read to him until it was time to go.
